The Miller Orchestra string section performed in the auditorium for an audience which included Durango 9-R School Board members, administrators, staff, students and public.
Board member Andrea Parmenter spoke, along with representatives from the architect firms, Bryan Construction company-who will lead the project, and Jacobs, who is managing the district's 4A Bond construction projects.
The ceremony moved outdoors where board members, administration, students and key partners took part in the ceremonial groundbreaking.
