Students walked through the framework of their new gym, classrooms, and auditorium. They said they were happy to see the real thing after viewing the floorplans; and the most exciting feature to them was the elevator.
As the tour ended, the students in hard hats and yellow vests enjoyed climbing on a piece of heavy equipment and sitting in the vehicle's big bucket.
Next month, workers will begin work on the exterior walls. On Nov. 27, MMS students and staff will have a chance to add their signature to the final steel beam of the building. The signed beam will be lifted into place with builders and district leaders during a traditional "Topping Out" Ceremony on Nov. 29.
The new building is scheduled to be open for staff and students at the beginning of next school year, Aug. 2024. Watch for details on an open house event open to the public.
