District invests in Cook Center webinars in support of student wellness

In response to our families’ requests for resources on parenting topics, we're excited to announce a new partnership with the Cook Center for Human Connection. We understand the importance of supporting our families while being respectful of parental rights and control. That’s why the district has invested in providing live webinars and recorded sessions. You can choose what’s important to you and align the advice to your own values and parenting style.

“We have collected family feedback and staff recommendations and selected a series of topics that match our families’ needs,” said Sean Hembree, Coordinator of Student Support Services for the district. “There is a demand for this – a real need for resources around student wellness.”

The webinar offerings align with Board Policies ADF: School Wellness for students and staff; and KB: Parent Involvement in Education. According to policy ADF: “Mental wellness services in schools are essential to address barriers to learning and are inseparable from the district's instructional mission.”

The Cook sessions cover a variety of topics to help you navigate the journey of parenting with confidence and ease. From managing stress to enhancing communication with your children, these resources are designed to empower and support you every step of the way.

The district will share topics and dates for evening live webinars – 15 to 20 per month will be offered. Interpretation will be available, and the content will be tailored by grade level. Schools will also have an option to offer live watch parties with discussion time on topics of interest. The webinars will be recorded and families can view them online at any time after the event.
