School social workers are highly trained school-based providers who provide a wide range of services, including: directly supporting students; providing intervention and assistance during crises; collaborating with teachers, administrators, and families to create safe and nurturing learning environments; serving on a range of school teams to provide consultation and insight into the needs of students; and working tirelessly to remove barriers to learning.
Their knowledge of community support and their clinical expertise help address challenges to school success such as mental health concerns, social-emotional skill development, and access to the basic needs and resources that are so necessary for families to thrive.
Through compassionate care and a collaborative approach, school social workers help students overcome obstacles and develop the resilience they need to meet their fullest potential.
School social workers are not only an essential component of what makes Durango School District schools so special – they are champions of success for all students and staff they support.
